Our company's focus is Ultrasonic and Eddy-Current Inspection services for advanced engineered materials used in defense and commercial projects.
Ultrasound is used primarily to detect subsurface defects such as delaminations, unbonds, voids, porosity, cracks, density variations and is capable of much more.
Ultrasonic inspection is commonly applied to cured composite structures, wrought metal, welds and machined metal products.
Eddy Current is primarily used for defect detection on or near the surface of machined parts, tubing, extrusion etc. It is often called out in lieu of "Penetrant" or "Magnetic Particle" inspection where limited, blind access or critical surfaces need to be inspected. Another common application is "conductivity measurements". This provides a means of sorting out metal variations for purposes of alloy verification for corrosion control and hardness testing.
The applied techniques can be designed to provide quantitative material characteristics or simply provide fast production sorting information such as Accept or Reject type test results.
Many of the Prime aerospace companies specify the methods and criteria to be applied for many part designs.
